A Summer Full of Music and Performance
This summer, Eduard Ferenczi Gurban captivated audiences with his performances in prominent French opera festivals. From the lively streets of Eauze to the historic venues of Gramat, Eduard’s voice and stage presence brought joy and emotion to opera lovers.
Reprising Ajax 2 at the Eauze Festival
At the Festival de Musique et Opéra d’Eauze (28 July – 2 August 2025), Eduard reprised the role of Ajax 2 in Offenbach’s opéra-comique La Belle Hélène, performing with Opéra Éclaté. The festival, now in its fourth edition, transformed Eauze’s iconic locations—including the Domus, Cathedral, and Saint-Taurin cloister—into vibrant stages for musical journeys.
Artistic Director Olivier Desbordes explained that the festival aims to “lead audiences and artists on new paths, towards countless journeys” through a variety of musical experiences: opéra-comique, recitals, and poetic performances infused with humor and spirit. La Belle Hélène delighted audiences with its dazzling costumes, energetic rhythms, and playful modern touches, offering an evening of pure joy and laughter.
Carmen Al-Andalus at the Gramat Festival
Continuing the summer opera season, Eduard performed the role of Dancaire in Carmen Al-Andalus, presented from 9 to 12 August 2025 at Château Biron and Salle de Jean Dumas, Gramat. This contemporary adaptation of Bizet’s classic blended Eastern and Western musical influences, highlighting the universal story of a strong, independent woman.
The Gramat festival, Y’a de la Joie en Chansons, transformed iconic venues such as Salle Jean Dumas, Clos du Chevalier, and Grand Couvent into stages for opéra-comique, Spanish-inspired music, and creative productions, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in a celebration of music, emotion, and community.
The Next Step: Opera Studio at Opéra National du Rhin
Looking ahead, Eduard is taking an important step in his career by joining the Opera Studio at the Opéra National du Rhin (2025/26 season) in Strasbourg starting 25 August 2025. This opportunity will allow him to work with international professionals, refine his skills, and prepare for the upcoming season, which promises exciting new roles.
