Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Cluj Hungarian Opera: Eduard Ferenczi Gurban’s Debut as Figaro

The Kolozsvári Magyar Opera is set to present Gioachino Rossini’s classic opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) in a lively two-act comedy. The performance will be conducted by Gergő Nagy, with a stellar cast, including Eduard Ferenczi Gurban making his debut as Figaro, the clever and resourceful barber at the heart of this timeless tale.

In Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Count Almaviva seeks to win the love of the beautiful Rosina, who is under the strict guardianship of the manipulative Doctor Bartolo. With the help of Figaro, Almaviva embarks on a series of witty and humorous schemes to win Rosina’s heart, leading to a hilarious and heartwarming story of love and mistaken identities.

The cast includes Bardon Tony as Count Almaviva, Gebe-Fügi Renáta as Rosina, and Molnár Zoltán as Doctor Bartolo. The supporting roles are played by Gergely Arnold Levente, Peti Tamás Ottó, Kincses Márk, and many others.

The production is directed by Emese Szabó, with scenic design by Venczel Attila and costumes by Ledenják Andrea. The concertmasters are Barabás Sándor and Ferenczi Endre, with the chorus conducted by Kulcsár Szabolcs.
